  • All year round

Not fully off the beaten tourist track, but a classic among the panoramic summits: Mount Rigi – “Queen of the Mountains”.

There is more than one reason, why the locals also love to come up here - in summer to get away from the heat in the city, and in autumn and winter -  to find warm sunshine over a sea of fog. The experience begins with a most enjoyable cogwheel ride up to the summit from where you have a breath-taking 360 degrees panoramic view of the Swiss Alps, and on the Swiss Plateau. Among the various walking and hiking trails there will be the right one for you. One of them takes you to a mountain cheese farm, where you can taste the homemade Swiss alp cheese and other regional food.

On Mount Rigi you will find yourself right on the geological interface between the Swiss Plateau and the Swiss Alps. This is the perfect spot to experience Switzerland’s geological history and the formation of its unique landscapes.

Why not round up your tour on Mount Rigi, with a boat trip on Lake Lucerne or a Swiss Tavolata dinner?

Focus and knowledge: Nature, geology, formation of Swiss landscapes, alp farming life, Swiss tourism history, environmental protection and the Swiss way of life.

Swiss Tavolata – Be a Swiss farmer’s guest
